AMMONITE
Ammonites were predatory marine cephalopods that jetted around the world’s oceans preying on smaller forms of marine life for nearly 330 million years. Abundant in prehistoric oceans ammonites were able to swim, due to the unique construction of their shell, which was divided into a series of air chambers. The shells of ammonites grew as a logarithmic spiral, a pattern that appears often in nature. Its spiral shape is said to symbolize continual change and evolution. An extinct arthropod, Trilobites are distant relatives of modern lobsters, horseshoe crabs and spiders. They existed for approximately 300 million years, and are one of the key signature creatures of the Paleozoic Era, the first era to exhibit the complex life forms that established the foundation of life as it is today! It is the result of a tree or tree-like plants having completely transitioned to stone by the process of per mineralization. The organic materials have been replaced with minerals while retaining the original structure of the stem tissue. Unlike other types of fossils which are typically impressions, petrified wood is a three-dimensional representation of the original organic material. Many people like to use petrified wood to help connect to prehistoric energies of Earth! Hardness: 7 Crystal System: Trigonal Chakras: Root & 3rd eye Source: Madagascar, Indonesia
SEPTARIAN support + nurture Septarian formed during the Cretaceous period, 50 to 70 million years ago as volcanic eruptions caused decomposing sea life to have a chemical attraction for the sediment around them, forming mud balls. As the ocean receded, the mud balls were left to dry and crack in the sun. The concretions are primarily a combination of Limestone (grey), Aragonite (brown), & Calcite (yellow). Septarian is used to enhance and nurture communication with groups, making it much easier to speak clearly and kindly. An excellent grounding stone, Septarian is said to support self- nurturing, caring about others and caring for the Earth. For nearly 330 million years, they were abundant in all of the oceans until they suddenly became extinct, around the same time as the demise of the dinosaurs, 65 million years ago.Ammonites were cephalopods (predatory marine mollusks) similar to the modern Squid, Octopus and chambered Nautilus. Ammonites were able to swim, thanks to the unique construction of their shell, which was divided into a series of air chambers. The air in the chambers provided buoyancy for animal to float, like modern cephalopods, they probably moved through the water using jet propulsion. The Ammonite animal lived in the last chamber of the shell. The rest, the inner chambers, were filled with gas or fluid which was used to control buoyancy and movement.
